First acquaintance on Facebook. Then, chatting all day long. Intimacy has also increased a lot. Suddenly, the person on the other side proposes to you for love. You get confused. But What Is True Love in a Relationship?
Does he really love you? Or is it just attraction? Or you have been maintaining a relationship for quite some time. But you are not feeling the love like before.
Meanwhile, the time to get married has come, but you can’t decide whether to spend your life with that person or not? If you want to spend your whole life together, one thing must be ensured.
That is, whether you love him and he loves you. But how do you know if I love him or if he loves me? Or is it just infatuation between us?
This is what I will discuss today from a famous book called “Teachings On Love“. According to the author, true love is made up of four fundamental elements.
If one of the four elements is missing, then it is not true love. Let’s explore these four essential elements of true love.
Element number 1: Friendship
Simply put, this means the desire to keep the other person happy and joyful. Sometimes, even when we genuinely want to make our partner happy, our actions can unintentionally bring them sadness and frustration.
For example: your partner wants to spend some quality time with you every day. But you don’t give him much time, but bring expensive gifts. He is not happy with this.
This is called lack of understanding. Understanding is one of the most important things in life. How is your understanding of him, whom you want to make your life partner?
Does he try to understand you, what things make you happy? Or do you try to understand him, what things make him happy? So, understanding is the first element which should be used to judge true love.
Element Number 2: Sympathize
We call it sympathy when we also feel the pain of others. But here, sympathy means something different.
It is not necessary for a doctor to express sympathy for being affected by the same disease if a medical patient is suffering from a disease. He can examine the patient and cure him by giving appropriate medicine.
Here, sympathy means studying the partner, alleviating their pain and suffering, and having the desire to do so. Now look at your relationship.
When you are in pain like a patient, does he play the role of a doctor? Or, do you take the initiative to remove his pain when he suffers?
That is, if the other person is in pain or not feeling well, you have to listen to their problems attentively, understand them, and address their pain through conversation. A single word can reduce pain a lot if the love is true.
Element Number 3: Joy
Do you rejoice in each other’s joy? If there is no joy in love, then it is not true love. One thing should be clear. Joy and happiness are not the same thing. Both body and mind can be happy.
But only the mind gets joy. For example: a thirsty person suddenly sees a fountain while walking in the desert. What will happen to him at that moment is the joy of the mind.
And what he will feel after drinking that water is happiness. To be a little clearer, the broader meaning of joy is peace and satisfaction.
Do you feel this in your relationship? If not, then one element of true love is missing between you.
Ingredient Number 4: Unconditional Love
This is an ingredient that means you love them, and they love you without any conditions. You don’t love them because they are beautiful, or they love you because you make them laugh a lot.
In other words, you don’t love them for any particular aspect, but rather you love them unconditionally, just as they are.
Both of you get the opportunity to freely express your feelings to each other without any fear of judgment.
That is, there is no need to wear a mask between the two of you. Maybe you want to do something, but you are worried about what your partner will say or think if they hear about it.
This is not an ingredient of true love. Such situations should not be created between you. If this happens, your love will be temporary.
If love is temporary, then it cannot be called true love. True love is a matter of where your partner will feel free.
